We had an absolute blast attending the Skipjack Races aboard Captain Art’s boat, The Helen Virginia, and even better—we brought home a 5th-place finish! Five years ago today, I watched my little boy be wheeled into open-heart surgery. There are moments in a mother’s life that change her forever. Watching your four-year-old child be taken away for a life-saving operation is one of them. The fear was overwhelming but somehow, so was the hope.
