Five-Year Post-Op Post!

Five years ago today, I watched my little boy be wheeled into open-heart surgery.

There are moments in a mother’s life that change her forever. Watching your four-year-old child be taken away for a life-saving operation is one of them. The fear was overwhelming but somehow, so was the hope. I had to trust the doctors, trust the process, and trust that my little boy would come back to me stronger.

And he did.

Five years later, I look at this incredible kid and see everything I prayed for that day: strong, healthy, fearless, and so incredibly full of life.

Cameron, you have overcome more before kindergarten than many people face in a lifetime. Your strength, your courage, and the way you have faced every challenge with that unmistakable Cameron spirit have inspired everyone around you—especially me.

Your scar is more than a reminder of what you went through. It tells a story of courage, resilience, strength, and a second chance at life. And I hope you always know just how incredibly proud I am of you.

To the surgeons, nurses, doctors, family, and friends who carried us through one of the hardest days of our lives—thank you. Your expertise, kindness, prayers, love, and support gave my little boy the chance to grow into the amazing young man he is becoming.

Five years later, his heart is stronger than ever… and so are we.

Watching you grow, laugh, dream, and thrive is the greatest gift I have ever been given.
