We had another long day yesterday. Cameron had his post opt apt at 8am. We started the day with blood work and a chest x-ray. As you can imagine the blood work portion was terrible. He is tired of needles and was not into the idea of being stuck again. He told the Phlebotomist where he wanted the needle to go and that’s where she went. We then went over and had our chest x-rayed by a very nice man named Mr. Bill. He let us see the x-ray after it was done. We counted the six steel sutures that are holding his sternum together. And we were even able to see a stitch inside his heart. Not sure where it is - the hole that was repaired, the valve that was repaired or maybe an entry/exit hole for the tools. And once again he pointed out the poop in his intestines.

After the bloodwork and x-rays we went back up to the cardiology lab and had our height and weight done. He’s 43lbs and 42” tall. We then waited some more and then had our EKG done. All looked great with his rebuilt ticker.

We then waited for what felt like three hours (but was actually two) and got to see Dr. Charlette. She removed the stitches where his drain tube was and went over his incision.

His incision is healing very nice and he is able to resume bathing and showering. So yay! no more sponge baths! He still has to wait two more weeks for swimming and his doctor who will see him at our August will clear him for more physical activities.

Cameron was not so happy with the visit and exclaimed that he never wanted to come back to this hospital and never wanted to see RN Charlette again.🤦🏻‍♀️ Thankfully she didn't take it personal and said she still loved him.

We headed back home and Cameron slept most of the way back. Little did he know his Grandma and Aunt were coming in town to visit him from New York. He was so surprised and is having the best time hanging with them.
