We’ve spent the last week trying to have a much fun as possible. I am so grateful for my parents for taking Cameron and I on a little vacay to one of our most favorite spots - Sanibel Island in Florida. It was a very eventful drip down (two days driving almost 100% in the rain) but we got to our first big stop Saturday. we had reservations at the T-Rex Cafe in Disney Springs in Orlando. Think of rainforest cafe but with Dinos. Cameron absolutely loved it.
We then made our way to LEGOLAND in Winter Haven. Saturday evening was a wash because of the torrential down pours - but Sunday the 4th was awesome. Little man had no fears of any roller coasters and wanted to sit in the front on every ride. We spent the majority of the day at the park and then came back and swam in the afternoon before fireworks that evening.
Monday we headed to Palm Harbor to surprise Cameron’s Great-Grandfather with a visit. We had lunch at his grandfather and grandmothers house (Cameron’s fathers father and step mother) and got to visit and catch up. They have not seen him since pre-pandemic and we aren’t sure what our travel schedule will be like after surgery.
After lunch we headed south to Sanibel. We got into. Minor fender bender thanks to a light being out and a distracted driver. We were fine - just an annoying complication on our trip. We met up with my dad, sister-in-law and nephew (who he driven down before us) and had dinner.
Tuesday and most of Wednesday were spent in the room as Hurricane Elsa passed. We did venture to the beach a few times when the rain and wind weren’t so crazy. Once Elsa passed we had blue sunny skies and were able to swim, collect shells and make sand castles. Little fish ended up swimming to the bottom of the deep end (8’3”) of the pool and swimming back up! it makes me sad that he worked so hard to do that and probably won’t be able to swim until November.
We are headed back to the Shore now To unpack from our trip, repack for the hospital and then boogie up to DC Tuesday evening.
