Today was the day. The reason we flew and drove all this way was for Cameron to see dinosaur bones in the ground. We travelled from Green River, Wyoming to Thermopolis, Wyoming. We passed miles of wide-open space filled with wild pronghorn antelope.
We passed by the South Pass of the Oregon Trail and over the Continental Divide for the second time (the first time there was no sign)
Once we got to Thermopolis, we spent the afternoon with Ozzy and Kristen from the Wyoming Dinosaur Center excavating sauropod bones from their dig site.
Afterward, we went and looked around the museum and Cameron met Mr. Jack Turnbull who was a paleontologist at the site who was working on a Camarasaraus vertebrate. We found out that Mr. Jack had open heart surgery April of 2021 - just a few months before cam. They compared scars and talked about dinosaurs. It made my mama heart so happy.
He gave us his contact info to keep in touch “anytime we felt like it”. We are so blessed to meet the people we do on our journey. I am certain tehy do not know the impact they have on not just myself but Cameron.
