Our day started with a 2:00 am alarm. I packed up the rest of the items we had lying around the hotel room and woke Cameron up around 2:30 am to get dressed and get ready. We met our driver, Kevin, at 3:00am and headed out to Los Angeles International. There was no traffic at that hour so it was nice to get there quick. We checked into Southwest and headed to the terminal gate. Cameron became friends with another pilot and got to peek into another cockpit. He fell asleep while we were waiting to take off and woke up just in time to see the Grand Canyon out the window. He was then amazed when we passed over snow capped mountains. He watched a movie and played with his dinosaurs. As we approached Midway-Chicago Airport there was a storm passing that made for a bumpy ride. At one point we descended just enough to be in between two pockets of clouds. Cameron said it looked like we were in a cloud sandwich.
Once we got to Midway-Chicago, we grabbed some lunch and waited for our final flight to Norfolk International. He slept most of the flight. I only woke him up when we were landing.
His Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop met us at the airport, we collected our bags from baggage claim and headed home. This was an incredible trip and one I am lucky to have been able to take my little heart hero on!
